Hazare cancels Wardha-Delhi 'padyatra'
Ralegan-Siddhi (Maharashtra), March 17
Social
activist Anna Hazare has cancelled his proposed 'padyatra' from Wardha
to Delhi to oppose the land acquisition bill, an aide said on Tuesday.
"Anna
has cancelled the padyatra that was to start on March 30. One reason
for the cancellation is the unseasonal rains and hailstorm in many parts
of the country," aide Suresh Pathare told IANS.
Hazare, 77, had
planned the 1,100-km long march passing through a dozen states. It was
to start on March 30 from Gandhi Ashram in Wardha and conclude at
Delhi's Ramlila ground around April 30.
Earlier, he was to visit revolutionary leader Bhagat Singh's village in Punjab on the anniversary of his martyrdom on March 23.
