Kerry hospitalised after cycling accident in Switzerland
Geneva, May 31
US Secretary of State John
Kerry was hospitalised here following a cycling accident in Switzerland,
his spokesman John Kirby said on Sunday.
Doctors have X-rayed the 71-year-old Kerry's legs and it is likely that he fractured his right leg, Efe quoted Kirby as saying.
The top US diplomat apparently hit a curb when he fell.
The
accident occurred at 9.40 a.m. in Scionzier, France, near the Swiss
border, and the secretary of state was airlifted to the hospital.
The
secretary of state met on Saturday in Geneva with his Iranian
counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, to discuss Tehran's nuclear
programme.
Kerry was scheduled to travel on Sunday to Madrid for a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo.
The US secretary of state was slated to meet with Spain's King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy on Monday.
Kerry
planned to travel on Monday to Paris for a meeting with his French
counterpart, Laurent Fabius, and for a ministerial meeting of the
coalition formed to fight the Islamic State.
