Delhi HC refuses to suspend Kejriwal ad
New Delhi, July 20
The Delhi High Court on
Monday refused to grant interim suspension of broadcast of
advertisements allegedly glorifying Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal
and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Justice V.P. Vaish also issued notice
to the central government seeking its response on the plea and fixed the
matter for further hearing on August 3.
The court was hearing a
plea filed by NGO Nyayaa Path which sought direction to the Delhi
government to immediately withdraw a TV advertisement and "restrain
itself from such type of image building exercise of Arvind Kejriwal".
The
Kejriwal government on July 12 came out with an advertisement with a
tagline "Woh pareshaan karte rahein, hum kaam karte rahein" (They kept
on troubling us, but we continued working).
