PM consults NDA partners over land bill

New Delhi, July 20 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday discussed the land bill with NDA cosntituents, sources said.

According to the sources, in a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders at his official residence, Modi inquired about the objection that allies parties have to the land acquisition bill brought by government.

The meeting was attended by Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, Shiv Sena leader Anand Rao Adsul, Republican Party of India leader Ramdas Athawle, and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhdeo Singh Dhindsa among allies.

BJP president Amit Shah, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu were also present.

Ahead of the NDA meeting, Modi held a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party executive committee, which was also attended by veteran leader L.K. Advani.

Among the NDA partners opposing the land bill are the Akali Dal, LJP and Shiv Sena.

According to sources, the government is not keen on taking up land bill in parliament during the monsoon session.

The bill is currently with a joint committee of parliament.
