40 militants killed in Pakistan operation

Islamabad, Aug 16  At least 40 militants of proscribed groups were killed in military airstrikes in Pakistan's North Waziristan on Sunday, a media report said.

The militants were killed when Pakistani military jets targeted hideouts in Shawal area of the region, Geo TV reported citing an Inter Service Public Relations statement.

North Waziristan is known to be the home of militants of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other allied groups.
