Indian doctor in New Jersey arrested

Bergen County, New Jersey Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrest of DR. Raja K Jagtiani, 54, of Dumont on charges of criminal sexual contact, simple assault and harassment by offensive touching.  

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

On July, 25, 2015, an employee of Dr. Jagtiani reported to the police that she was touched on her breast and bit on the facial cheek while she was working with him on that date.  During the investigation, more victims of sexual contact and harassment were identified and later interviewed. These victims, totaling four in number at this time, include current and former employees as well as one patient.  

Dr. Raja was charged with five counts of Criminal Sexual Contact, three counts of Harassment by Offensive Touching and one count of Simple Assault.  Blanket bail for all charges was set by the court at $20,000.00 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victims, must surrender his passport, and cannot apply for a new passport, as conditions of bail.

Dr. Jagtiani was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
