London, June 3  Republican Party's presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump is set to arrive in Britain on June 22, a day before Britons go to polls to decide whether to remain in the European Union (EU).

Trump said he will come to the country on a whistle-stop tour of his golf resorts in Britain and Ireland, the Guardian reported on Friday.

According to officials, Trump was initially due to appear at the relaunch of his Turnberry hotel golf course, in south-west Scotland, on June 24, the day of the referendum result.

But now he will arrive on June 22 and will visit his golf resort in Doonbeg in Ireland by the time polls have closed.

The change in timing raises the question of whether Trump will meet Prime Minister David Cameron, who will be in the midst of campaigning to keep a sceptical British public from voting to leave the EU.

It also raises the prospect that Trump, who is pro-Brexit, will attempt to lend political weight to the leave campaign, the officials added.
