London, March 16: Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford might profit from growing concerns over the fitness of Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane's absence due to damaged ankle ligaments as England football team's manager Gareth Southgate is likely to name him on Thursday for the upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania.

According to ESPNFC sources, after Kane joined Daniel Sturridge on the sidelines with injury and captain Rooney was once again ruled out of action at United, England manager Southgate has opted to select the youngster for the friendly against the Germans on March 22 and a World Cup qualifier versus Lithuania on March 26.

The three strikers will in all likelihood be Jamie Vardy, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck.

Rooney will also not play for United in their Europa League tie against FC Rostov at Old Trafford due to a knee problem.

England manager Southgate has always been a huge admirer of Rashford.
