Fiorentina sign French midfielder Veretout

Florence (Italy), July 26 : Fiorentina have announced the signing of French midfielder Jordan Veretout from English football club Aston Villa on a four-year contract, with the option to extend to five seasons.

Villa on Tuesday received a fee of seven million euros (over $8 million) plus add-ons from the Italian club, which posted an eighth-placed finish in the Serie A 2016-17 season, reports Efe.

"It's a great day for me, I'm ready to give my best for Fiorentina," Veretout told the club's website.

The 24-year-old made his professional debut for French club Nantes in 2011 and appeared 146 times for the side.

In 2015, Veretout joined Aston Villa on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee, but only appeared for the team 25 times.

He spent last season on loan at St Etienne and played 43 games between Ligue 1, Europa League and France Cup, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
