The Burlington County, New Jersey, Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced a $25,000 reward for information about the murder of Sasikala Narra (38) and their son, Anish Sai (6), on March 23.
Six months have passed since the murders that shocked the entire Indian community, but police are still clueless about the gruesome incident.
Sasikala’s husband, Hanumantha Rao Narra found the bodies in their Maple Shade apartment at around 9 pm.
They had each been stabbed multiple times. Autopsies performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood concluded that they died from slash wounds to their necks, authorities said.
Police still say that the case wasn’t being investigated as a hate crime.
‘This remains an ongoing and very active investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies,’ Prosecutor Scott Coffina said, according to Cinnaminson Patch. ‘We have utilized every resource available to assist us in solving this crime. We are extremely grateful to the FBI for supplying the funds for this reward. Somebody out there has knowledge about these homicides. I urge anyone with information to contact us immediately.’
Coffina appeared along with Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Newark Division Timothy Gallagher and Maple Shade Township Police Chief Gary C. Gubbei at a press conference to announce the reward at the Fox Meadow apartment complex. Afterward, more than 30 investigators canvassed the Fox Meadow apartment complex and handed out flyers printed in English, Spanish, Hindi and Telugu.
‘We are committed, along with our law enforcement partners of the Maple Shade Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, to solving this brutal murder of a mother and child,’ Gallagher said. ‘The FBI offers not only monetary support in this investigation, but is also providing our full investigative resources domestically and internationally. We are asking for those who may have information to please come forward.’
The Patch report also said that a mobile command center staffed by detectives will remain at the apartment complex for the next two days to encourage residents with information to communicate with law enforcement. Police are asking for any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem.
‘I want to thank the management of Fox Meadow for their cooperation throughout this investigation,” Gubbei said. “Our department has a very good relationship with the management and the residents. Anyone who knows anything at all about these homicides should feel entirely comfortable approaching us to share that information.’
Anyone with information that might assist investigators is asked to call 609-265-7113 or send an email to [email protected].

The couple had moved to the United States nine years ago.
Anish Narra was a student at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Maple Shade.
The bodies were found by the husband Hanumantha Rao Narra at the Fox Meadows Apartment in Maple Shade in Burlington County just after 9 pm on March 23. He called the police and Sasikala’s relations.
There was no forced entry to the apartment.
The police have obtained evidence that Hanumantha Rao was at a party after the office hours on that evening, possibly when the murders occurred.
The brutal stabbing of a six year old child and the nature of the wounds show that the killer had a lot of anger against the victims. There were several stab wounds on Sasikala’s face and body. There were deep wounds on the head and face of Anish who evidently resisted the killer.
Family and friends have confirmed that there were marital discord between Sasikala Narra and her husband. But the husband was never a suspect in the case, police said.
