Washington DC, September 2:
A constitutional proposal in Trump's home state of Florida would legalize recreational marijuana, and the former president has declared his support for the measure.

"As everyone knows, I was, and will be again, the most respected law and order President in US History," the Republican presidential candidate shared on Truth, a social networking platform. By taking a firm and strategic stance against violent crime and all forms of criminality, we will reclaim our streets. As with numerous other states that have previously approved the legalization of small amounts of marijuana for adults, Amendment 3 will bring about this change in Florida as well.

Legalizing recreational marijuana will happen with or without the approval of individuals, according to Trump.

This will happen since voters approved it, therefore it's important that it's done right regardless of how people feel about it. In order to avoid the pervasive stench of marijuana that permeates many Democrat-run communities, it is imperative that the State Legislature enacts rules prohibiting its use in public places.

"Someone shouldn't be a criminal in Florida when this is legal in so many other states," Trump continued in his statement. No one should have to mourn the loss of a loved one due to fentanyl-laced marijuana; it is unnecessary to ruin lives and spend government money arresting adults having personal amounts on them. We will restore security to the United States!

Washington, DC-based think tank Pew Research Centre reports that while federal law prohibits both the use and possession of marijuana, over three quarters of states have decriminalized it for either medicinal or recreational use. The U.S. Department of Justice made headlines earlier this year when it reclassified marijuana as a less harmful narcotic. The Hill reports that this would reduce the drug's classification to Schedule III if it were to be authorized.
