Indian sisters, 2 and 4, drowned in pond on Long Island, New York
Long Island, New York: Two Indian toddler sisters, aged 2 and 4, died after drowning in a pond behind the Fairfield Townhouses in Holtsville on Long Island Saturday afternoon, according to the Suffolk County Police.
It happened at about 3:16 p.m.
Police responded to a 911 call from a relative reporting that the two girls were missing. It is unclear how the girls made their way to the water.
When officers arrived, good Samaritans helped search and the sisters were pulled unresponsive from the water at approximately 3:20 p.m.
The sisters were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were pronounced dead. The police are conducting an investigation about the incident
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
Meanwhile, Christ for Life Church on Long Island is organizing a fundraiser to help the family of the drowned children, Ruth Evangeline Gali (4yrs and 11 months) & Selah Grace Gali (2yrs and 11 months).
Their father David is stuck in India due to visa issues. Mother Sudha Parimala lives in Holtsville, Long island. They have been members of Christ for Life Church since the time of their marriage.
The church is working towards bringing David back into the US with an emergency visa based on compassionate grounds. After David’s visa is sorted, the funeral arrangements will have to be made.
