Couple shot dead for ‘honour’ in Pakistan
Islamabad, May 12
A couple was killed on
Tuesday in the suburbs of Lahore in Pakistan in what appears to be an
incident of honour killing, media reported.
According to police,
Tahir, a resident of Patoki, came to meet a girl in Chohang area of
Punjab province where the father and other relatives of the girl shot
dead both the boy and the girl after finding them together, Geo News
reported.
Police said the father of the girl and his two
accomplices have been arrested while the gun used in the killings has
also been seized.
Last year in May, a pregnant woman was stoned
to death by her own family in front of a high court for marrying against
their wishes, sparking international outrage.
Nearly 20 members
of the woman's family, including her father and brothers, attacked her
and her husband with batons and bricks in broad daylight before a crowd
of onlookers in a a case of honour killing.
