Sensex surges 288 points in early trade
Mumbai: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Monday surged 288.52 points or 1.10 percent during the morning session.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also surged 82.55 points or 1.04 percent and was trading at 8,033.45 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,379.42 points, was trading at 26,509.47 points (at 9.17 a.m.) in the early session, up 288.52 points or 1.10 percent from the previous day's close at 26,220.95 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 26,518.11 points and a low of 26,375.31 points in the trade so far.
